Alexander Herrera has been teaching since 1998 throughout the state of California. He has instructed at over 20 schools and institutions including Fever Drum and Bugle Corps 2005 (Snare Technician), VIBE Percussion 2008 (Caption Head), and Valley Independent Percussion 2004-Current (Caption Head).
Alex marched bass drum for Vanguard Cadets ’97 and snare drum for Black Knights ’99-’02.
Alex graduated with a specialized degree in fashion design from FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) and currently is the owner of AHpercussion & Designs designing uniforms for competitive percussion ensembles in the San Joaquin Valley. He has arranged and composed several shows for winter percussion ensembles as well as marching bands. Alex recently published his instructional method books, Back to Basics for the Modern Marching Percussionist, instructing students and instructors for beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of percussion.
Currently he is a member of the Vic Firth Educational Team and also proudly endorses Remo Drum Heads & World Percussion. Alex currently resides in Tulare, CA.
